As I was traveling during the holidays, I spent some time thinking about all of the things that have been feeding me over the past years and how some of those things may not currently be good for where I am going and my future goals. I was talking with some friends and we were just discussing how music, social media, the books we read, and the shows we watch all contribute to feeding our thoughts. You know like every time you hear the song “Back Dat Azz Up” by Juvenile, you instantly THINK you’re the best dancer taking over the floor! Meanwhile, all your friends are like girl come back that ain’t your song girl, that drop is gone and it is 2019. LOL! Well, something like that. Okay, I just needed that laugh from the entire thought. No, but seriously in 2019, we are going to have to be diligent and stern in moving away from the things that do not align with our progression or sit well with our emotions. A great example of this is when you’re on instagram and your timeline is full of negative topics that don’t align with your energy. Guess what, UNFOLLOW ALL 2019! If certain songs don’t sit well in my spirit or remind me of things that are not conducive to my happiness, girl they have to go!! DELETE AND REMOVED FROM PLAYLIST! I am working on reading more again and watching less TV, especially ratchet TV. Sorry Mona-Scott Young, Love and Hip Hop can’t get the ratings over here NO MORE SIS! I’m vowing to spend more time getting back in touch with political news. I’m going to be so Angela Rye and Kamala Harris this year y’all. Plus, it is too much money to be made to not have some background knowledge about the arena the money is moving in. Thing is….,you can start researching and studying Google for information, Youtube for videos, and following Instagram pages that are conducive to the direction you’re moving in this year. You gotta unfollow some stuff too! If someone gets mad that you unfollow, just politely say I’m making some changes with my following and your page isn’t what I need to be following right now. Technically, you don’t have to explain it but we all have some good friends that need to understand why. It is hard, but it is necessary. I love style, so I follow fashion pages. I have body goals, so I follow fitness pages, I am looking to become a millionaire, so I follow Gary Vee and more. I love to be inspired, so I follow @hellonecole on Instagram. I love to support several small black owned businesses, so I follow their brands. Definitely check out House of Rehab and Humble Flourish Brand. Dope couple with two separate brands that are equally stylish. More to come on those in a separate blog. All I’m saying is..,,if it doesn’t FEED you in the areas you need to be fed in a positive or motivational manner in 2019, then understand that It is okay to change and to adjust to what you need to feed you. So yeah, let’s check our inner self this first part of the year and get some new music, social media pages to follow, and books to read. Check out some of these books to help you get started this first quarter.
